Sarah Palin and Anne Kilkenney: Kilkenney has an axe to grind

This is an update to an original post by Kilkenney's allegation that Palin wanted Librarian Emmons to ban library books.

The post is here: http://thomasalamb.blogspot.com/2008/09/can-i-get-amen-from-sarah-palin-and.html#links

From the ADN today: http://www.adn.com/sarah-palin/story/515512.html

Were any books censored banned? June Pinell-Stephens, chairwoman of theAlaska Library Association's Intellectual Freedom Committee since 1984, checked her files Wednesday and came up empty-handed.

Pinell-Stephens also had no record of any phone conversations with Emmons about the issue back then. Emmons was president of the Alaska Library Association at the time.Books may not have been pulled from library shelves, but there were other repercussions for Emmons.

Four days before the exchange at the City Council, Emmons got a letter from Palin asking for her resignation. Similar letters went to police chief Irl Stambaugh, public works director Jack Felton and finance director Duane Dvorak. John Cooper, a fifth director, resigned after Palin eliminated his job overseeing the city museum.

Palin told the Daily News back then the letters were just a test of loyalty as she took on the mayor's job, which she'd won from three-term mayor John Stein in a hard-fought election. Stein had hired many of the department heads. Both Emmons and Stambaugh had publicly supported him against Palin.

As pointed out Kilkenney is a Democrat hack and it is clear she has an axe to grind.

Thanks for posting this. I was sure that there was something personal going on between them when I read Kilkenneys email.

The article you link to in ADN simply supports everything Kilkenney said. She never said Palin had books banned, but that she asked how to get books banned and when the librarian said absolutely not, there were repercussions from Palin. And Kilkenney was one of the people that supported the librarian. That's exactly what Kilkenney says in her letter and it's supported by the ADN article.

Kilkenny came out with this statement a few days ago:

3) If I were to write my email today I would add that I have no recollection of what specific book titles Mayor Palin wanted removed from the library, or if she even named any. There is a list of books out there; I know nothing about that list! It looks bogus to me.

She states "there is a list of books but she knows nothing of the list, it is bogus to me."

The point being and importnat one is Palin never banned any books period.

If Kilkenny wants to talk about freedom of speech she is a hypocrite when she supported the ban on campaign signs on private property and that is documented
