DRUDGE REPORT POLL = PALIN TOP WINNER

Sarah Palin Kicked Biden’s Ass!

I’ll admit - what with all the difficult interviews lately (edited to make her look bad), I was really worried that Sarah Palin would make a big mistake in the debate and the media would destroy her afterwards. About 15 minutes into the debate, I relaxed and saw that she was not only holding her own, but starting to dominate. She was clear, she was articulate, and she was personable.

SARAH ROCKS!

First, I would like to see all the Sarah doubters and detractors in the Beltway/Manhattan corridor eat their words.

Eat them.

Biden Tells 14 Lies During VP Debate

Senator Joe Biden lied at least 14 times during the vice presidential debate according to those counting at John McCain’s presidential headquarters.

Tucker Bounds, a spokesman from GOP presidential candidate John McCain’s campaign said in a statement, “"Joe Biden graduated from his trademark verbal gaffe to outright lie in tonight’s debate.”

On the foreign policy front, Biden challenged Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin when she said Barack Obama’s pledge to meet with any foreign leaders, including Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, without precondition “goes beyond naivete and goes beyond poor judgment.”

Biden lectured Palin, “That's just simply not true about Barack Obama. He did not say he'd sit down with Ahmadinejad.” During the YouTube Democratic primary debate last July Obama was asked if he would meet the leaders of Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba, and North Korea without “precondition” during his first year in office.

“I would,” he replied.

Palin in Debate

ST. LOUIS — Sarah Palin was supposed to fall off the stage at her vice presidential debate Thursday evening. Instead, she ended up dominating it.

She not only kept Joe Biden on the defensive for much of the debate, she not only repeatedly attacked Barack Obama, but she looked like she was enjoying herself while doing it.

She smiled. She faced the camera. She was warm. She was human. Gosh and golly, she even dropped a bunch of g’s.

“John McCain doesn’t tell one thing to one group and somethin’ else to another,” she said. “Those huge tax breaks aren’t comin’ to those huge multinational corporations.”

She went out of her way to talk in everyday terms, saying things like “I betcha” and “We have a heckuva opportunity to learn” and “Darn right we need tax relief.”

Biden was somber, serious and knowledgeable. And he seemed to think that debates were about facts. He had a ton of them.

Peggy Noonan on Gov. Sarah Palin's Debate Performance

TWO HOURS AFTER THE DEBATE - IMPRESSIONS

Thursday’s Vice Presidential debate was a winner for the Republican ticket. Depending on your barometer, Governor Sarah Palin may or may not have hit a home run tonight – I say she smacked a two-run triple into the gap – but she unquestionably came up huge, foiling (and probably disappointing) her tongue-watering critics, standing her ground admirably, going toe-to-toe with the time-worn, grizzled sigh-master, Senator Joe Biden. It wasn’t a performance for the ages in the classic sense, but it was one of the most personable and likeable performances I have ever seen in a debate – and it will be paramount in injecting some new life into the recently floundering McCain campaign.

In short, Palin was terrific.

CBS Poll: More Uncommitted Voters Saw Biden As Winner

UPDATED CBS News and Knowledge Networks have conducted a nationally representative poll of 473 uncommitted voters to get their immediate reaction to tonight's vice presidential debate.

After the first presidential debate, a similar survey showed that more uncommitted voters identified Barack Obama as the winner

Final numbers from tonight's poll have yet to come in, but we do have some early results. (These numbers may change as more respondents complete the survey.) They suggest that once again more voters have responded favorably to the Democratic candidate.

Forty-six percent of the uncommitted voters surveyed say Democrat Joe Biden won the debate, compared to 21 percent for Republican Sarah Palin. Thirty-three percent said it was a tie.
