Arlen Specter the Hypocrite

Arlen Specter was going to lose the Republican primary. He left because of that fact. It was not done out of principle, but he did it out of his own political self-interest.

When the Vermont Republican became an independent, Specter lost a committee chairmanship in the Senate's resulting power shift. An angry Specter proposed a ban on such party switches.
