Officials brace for 3rd wave of H1N1

Officials brace for 3rd wave of H1N1

The 41st person in Iowa has died from complications related to the H1N1 influenza while health officials await a "third wave" of infection that might not arrive until next year -- in a different guise.

"I still recommend people get vaccinated," said Dr. Patricia Quinlisk, medical director for the Iowa Department of Public Health. "I am asked, 'What if I get my vaccination and the third wave doesn't come.' It won't be a waste. A lot of the experts I have talked to say H1N1 will come back next year as seasonal flu. This virus will be around for a while."
