Olbermann Du Jour: Waiter, There is an Olive Fruit Fly In My Palinista Soup

I'll start this off by saying Olbermann is a dumbass and anyone who follows this dumbass, needs to be fact checked.

Case in point Bobby Jindal's "fruit fly moment.

Alaska blogger, Celtic Diva's Blue Oasis likens Jindal's criticism of funding volcano observatories to Palin's "fruit fly" moment and uses a YouTube video of MSNBC's clown-town, Keith Olbermann's comments of Palin in support of her comments.

The video is self-explanatory.

Now on to the facts of what Palin was talking about. First from
CNN:

Some lawmakers defended their earmarks, such as Rep. Mike Thompson, D-California, who channeled $742,764 to olive fruit fly research.

"The olive fruit fly has infested thousands of California olive groves and is the single largest threat to the U.S. olive and olive oil industries," he said.

See any comments about research on autism? No.

Next, from the PIG Book:

The French Kiss Off Award
to Representative Mike Thompson (D-Calif.) for $211,509 in olive fruit fly research in Paris, France.

See any mention or comments on research of autism? No.

Where is the USDA facility that studies the olive fruit fly? In France. That is the USDA as in the protection of olives in California, not research for autism in another state.

That is why Olbermann is a dumbass and his followers don't know what the hell they are talking about.

What is the research on the
olive fruit fly
that Palin was referring to?

The olive fruit fly, Bactrocera oleae (Diptera, Tephritidae) first was recorded in California in October 1998 when a single female fly was captured in west Los Angeles. By fall 1999, olive fruit flies had been captured in seven additional counties including Tulare County, in the San Joaquin Valley, the leading producer of table olives in California. Presently, the olive fruit fly occurs in all olive growing areas of California and threatens virtually all commercial and fruit-bearing ornamental olive plantings.

IMPACT

The olive fruit fly poses a severe economic threat for the state’s commercial olive growers. The larvae (maggots) of the olive fruit fly feed inside the fruit, destroying the pulp and allowing the entry of secondary bacteria and fungi that rot the fruit and degrade the quality of the oil. Feeding damage can cause premature fruit drop and reduce fruit quality for both table olive and olive oil production. Large numbers of rotting fruit on the ground can create an unwelcome mess, especially in landscaped situations.

There is that saying that we all know and that is; when you tell a lie enough, people will soon think it is the truth.

Well here is some truth that doesn't take much to tell. When it comes to facts, Olbermann wouldn't know facts if he saw them or they hit him on the head. And people who follow him and quote him, are lost in the wilderness.

And as for the olive fruit fly? Just kill the damn thing with some good old DDT. (smile)

Sarah Palin Supports Murdering Babies After Parental Consent

Sarah Palin Supports Murdering Babies After Parental Consent

While approving of the "murder of children" by abortion throughout the state of Alaska, this pro-abort feminist Governor] says, "The most important thing is the right of Alaska children to receive support and the ability for them to receive the support and input of their parents as they face a life changing decision."

Controversial headlines and comments breed criticism. Tying parent's rights into Palin being a "pro-abort feminist Governor" puts the Covenant News on-line website in a position of being nonsensical.

Given the Alaska Supreme Court's decisions on the matter of the Alaska Constitution when it deals with privacy issues, Governor Palin's actions can hardly be called supporting the murdering of babies after parental consent.

Again, this is an example of the messenger killing the message.

Who's Pen will be Mightier: Palin's Line Item Veto or Obama's Authority (Poll Included)(2nd Update)

An interesting scenario is setting up under the stimulus package. In Alaska, the Governor has line-item veto on budget matters.

In the federal stimulus law, there is a provision that allows for the state legislature to by-pass the executive branch.

H/T to conservatives4palin on the topic of the legislator's comments on the matter.

The language of the stimulus bill:

ADDITIONAL FUNDING DISTRIBUTION AND ASSURANCE OF APPROPRIATE USE OF FUNDS

SEC. 1607.

(a) CERTIFICATION BY GOVERNOR. Not later than 45 days after the date of enactment of this Act, for funds provided to any State or agency thereof, the Governor of the State shall certify that: the State will request and use funds provided by this Act and will use the funds to create jobs and promote economic growth.

(b) ACCEPTANCE BY STATE LEGISLATURE. If funds provided to any State in any division of this Act are not accepted for use by the Governor, then acceptance by the State legislature, by means of the adoption of a concurrent resolution, shall be sufficient to provide funding to such State.

(c) DISTRIBUTION. After the adoption of a State legislature's concurrent resolution, funding to the State will be for distribution to local governments, councils of government, public entities, and public-private entities within the State either by formula or at the State's discretion.

As stated, there is an interesting scenario setting up where by state constitutional authority, the Governor is given line-item veto. Something that is not held in the federal constitution per U.S. Supreme Court decisions.

Technically, a constitutional question of law can come into effect in that the federal stimulus package can have the caveat of holding states in obligation on future funding of items and projects.

From a constitutional stand point, Obama is overruling Alaska's Constitution in that he is allowing the state legislature through federal law, to completely by-pass the state constitutional provision giving the Governor the executive authority to use her veto pen.

A poll on the topic is in the upper left-hand of the page.

Update:Freeper Yehuda's comments on Robert Reich

iiuc, this is what/how Robert Reich was back-door hinting to Rangel in the otherwise infamous “white male white construction workers” video last month:

at 1:58

Rangel: “Governors are going to be forced to find some formula to find out how...

2:23 “...remove the discretion...

3:13”...by mandating the criteria and the formulas`

Reich: “absolutely the criteria and the formulas ought to be mandated, governors should be given a choice of signing on the bottom line or not, they should be held accountable, they should not be held up in state legislatures...”

Palin Power: Renewable Energy for The Republican Party in 2012 (Update)

I have told this story before, but I will tell it again. The first time I met Governor Palin was at a campaign luncheon held by the Republican Women's Club of Anchorage.

To keep the story short, I saw Governor Palin speak about the Republican platform. I knew then that her heart was in the right place and she was in the right place to run for Governor.

Knowing that, I believe Governor Palin has what it takes to become president in 2012.

Just recently, a poll was taken by Dave Dittman and it shows Palin popular in Anchorage. Not an easy task when you consider all of the negative press she has had.

She has gotten hit politically from those within her own party also. So given this, I will make a prediction that Palin will gain more confidence as she continues in her role as Governor this year, the next year and the call for her to run in 2012 will grow stronger.

As time goes on, I will focus more on Obama's presidency, Palin's detractors and at times when I do not agree with Governor Palin I will be writing about it.

There is a time for constructive criticism and a time for praise.

So here is some time spent on praise.

In the news today, Rep Coghill and Senator Olson came up with a parental consent bill that strengthens parent's rights. Governor Palin has come out in support of that.

KTUU Online Poll (unscientific poll)

Should minors be required to notify their parents before an abortion?
Yes No

Thank you for participating in our poll. Here are the results so far.

Yes 75%
No 25%

Read House Bill 35

Now the detractors will be out in force criticizing Palin and some will be for the law. That is how deep the hatred goes with some people in Alaska. Fortunately they are in a minority.

Update: John Stein from Mother Jones had this headline: Palin's Media Bash-a-thon Continues

In the article, Stein quotes Palin:

I would do it again though, knowing that there is great need in our country for reform. There is great need in our country -- I think we need to get back to the basic tenets that built up the Republican Party… if there is opportunity I can see to help, I would do it again.

As for Stein and others, they have nothing more to attack Palin on. But Palin has a lot of ammo against them. The mainstream media does not like that in a politician.

With Palin, there was and is still a tendency to go to the sources that have nothing more than gossip and rumors. When the press came to Alaska looking for pay dirt on Palin, all they got was fool's gold from people like Sherry Whitstine, Andrew Halcro and others.

If the media wants to call it a bash-a-thon, then that means they are on the defense and Palin is on the offense. That folks, is how you play the game when the game is stacked against you.

Rasmussen Proves Americans are Confused on Taxes

I knew it. Americans in general don't know who to trust on economic issues.

Rasmussen has a new poll on taxing people who make $250,000.00 and above.

The short is 51% think it's okay and it would be good for the economy. 31% think it would be bad and 12% say it would have no impact on the economy.

However, in another poll conducted by Rasmussen, 57% Say Tax Cuts Will Help Economy

Now, it should be plain to the GOP, that their message is not sinking in and it should be clear that the Democrats and Obama are winning. I get the sense that Americans are feeling helpless on this issue and when you have some Republicans voting for the $410 billion dollar omnibus pork filled bill, Americans are going to be confused.

Glenn Beck got it right today, when he talked about Republicans and Democrats....

Reality check for Vice President Joe Biden

Reality Check for Vice President Joe Biden? There is no reality for this man. And to think he is one "web number" from the President's Recovery Plan.

Chatty Catty: Syrin is back at it, Attacking Palin

As I stated on a previous thread, blogger Syrin, aka Sherry Whitstine has an obsessive and catty quality about her.

Palin is definitely on her mind. The latest is; she responds to an article Alex Gimarc wrote about the liberal media attacking conservatives.

Girmac writes:

We all saw this played out on a national stage with the media assault on Governor Sarah Palin during September and October of last year, as she was – and remains – a significant political threat to Barack Obama.

How does Sherry Whitstine handle this?

Sarah Palin who is more dangerous than anyone in modern times. Media should and did cover the fact and bring to light Sarah Palin, who's a total 'Scandal Factory' Let's close down this scandal factory! She says she's a conservative, Sarah is a liar, more of a socialist, more self absorbed, more incompetent, much more ignorant and much more unethical than her counterparts. Palin is NO threat to Obama. However, she's a great threat to the social and economic future of Alaska. We deserve much better....Some of you are living in Sarah's narcissistic world, get out or your brains will be sucked out. Ooops, it might be too late for some of you....

Will Sherry join the rest of the chatty cattys and go back to reading Shakespeare to cleanse her mental palate? Don't count on it. She's obsessed with reading about Palin for the moment.

One has to ask, why would someone in the mainstream press or a person writing a book about Palin seek information from this woman?

The answer is obvious. Gossip sells. Facts don't.

With All the Bad Polling Numbers from Rasmussen, How is it that Obama's Approval Numbers are high?

21% Back ACORN’s Plan To Resist Foreclosure

54% Say ‘No’ To All Bailouts

Confidence in Stimulus Plan Drops Over Past Week

Confidence in the $787-billion economic stimulus plan has fallen four points in the week since President Obama signed it into law, and more voters are prepared to punish their representatives for supporting it.

Remember, this is Obama's bill and the Democrat's bill, however, Rassmussen has this: Democrats Up By Four in Generic Congressional Ballot

Then you have a majority of Americans who say 62% say the nation is heading down the wrong track

War on Terror has dropped dramatically in the past two weeks. Just 47% of voters now believe the United States and its allies are winning.

55% Say Government Mortgage Help Rewards Bad Behavior

So how is it with all of these bad numbers that Obama supports, his approval ratings are high when compared to the issues he supports.

The Republican party had better wake up.

Rush Limbaugh Plays to Jindal's Message and not Enough to the Messenger

H/T Gateway Pundit

In the video below (start at 3:50 into video), Limbaugh makes a big blunder. He contradicts himself. He states that the person must inspire but states that we spent too much time on style and not enough substance.

The reason why the Republican party is where it is at is because the conservative message had not found the right messenger. That is the reality.

The story of the Emperor Has No Clothes comes to mind when Rush is talking about Jindal's style and ability to inspire people to believe in a message.

Reagan had style and inspired people. Palin has style and inspires people.

And both have substance. You need both style and substance and Jindal didn't have "it". There is a reason why the phrase the "Messenger killed the Message" exists.

Mr. Jindal's Neighborhood: Get Ready For Saturday Night Live

As I previously posted here.

The Republicans are in serious trouble if they do not start to get their act together. And do it fast. How fast? As fast as it takes for someone to come up with a Mr. Roger's version of Jindal's speech.

I wanted to see how Jindal was in a debate, so I found a one hour long debate that you see below.

Whoever set this rebuttal up should be fired. There is a pattern within the Republican party to put candidates like Palin and Jindal in awkward moments.

Republicans are going to lose the battle and the war (Updated: Mr. Jindal's Neighborhood Video)

That's right, the Republicans are losing the battle and they will lose the war. That is because the establishment within the party still controls the party.

After seeing Jindal tonight, I can say with 100% confidence, the Republicans will fail if they keep putting out this bi-partisan kumbaya B.S. like Jindal did.

Here is a prime example of why Republicans have no credibility.

House Democrats propose $410B spending bill

This omnibus bill has been setting in the house and Pelosi pulled it from the calendar because she felt it was going to hurt the STIMULUS BILL. Human Events was one of the few that picked up on the story.

How many Republicans were out there screaming on the top of Mount CNN, Mount MSNBC, Mount CBS, Mount ABC, Mount NBC and Mount Fox about this bill?

Every Republican should have been on every news outlet, every radio show, every street corner, in every barber shop, in every brothel (because that would have made it, a bi-partisan effort then) talking about this bill on top of the other bills.

This getting along with the Democrats B.S. has got to stop. This sending in Jindal to respond was weak. You send the damn pitbull in.

Just once in the near future, I would like to see Palin take it to the catty boy Olbermann and others like him.

Instead of oh god's coming from his crew, cries of "I want my mama" will be heard with tears rolling down Olbermann's and Matthews'cheeks.

The Wasilla Women's Glee Club: Chatty Cattys on Sarah Palin

I am always amazed to read about and hear women who consider themselves to be conservative and act like little gossip columnists sitting with other women talking about rumors.

I have had the pleasure of having Sherry Whitstine contact me briefly on a subject that I had written and quite frankly, I had written in a manner as it confused the reader, namely Sherry Whitstine, so I corrected it, to clarify.

What I came away with when I read Sherry Whitstine response is; she has an obsessive quality about her. Hence the attraction to attack Sarah Palin not based on her own facts, but on other people's comments and rumors.

Now having been raised by a divorced mother who was involved in politics in Michigan and later came to Alaska and ran against Linda Menard in a school board race in the Mat-Su Valley, I was given some insight to how politics work out in the valley.

As I stated on a previous thread, a while back, Eddie Burke who now hosts his own radio show on KYBR, and I, had gotten into a little spat over some issues and I had raised the issue of Menard and why would Palin surround herself with people like Menard.

Without going into too much detail, my opinion is based on what my mother observed of Menard in the school board race and my opinion was then and is now, Menard could/can not be trusted. And as they say, politics make strange bedfellows and also friends.

Now,this brings me to Sherry Whitstine and what she talks about on her blog:

Now when I read this I was immediately struck by how little Palin's personality has changed since her days on the middle school basketball court.

Her absolute "win at any cost" attitude is still very evident in how she conducts herself during campaigns, and in her inability to understand or care how her actions may be affecting her opponents or teammates.

Now here is a little gift for those of you whose were asking for the real dirt in this book. I am not up to the Trig pregnancy story yet, but I did stumble across this little tidbit in chapter five.

Sarah and Todd's business partner would become good friends. They enjoyed politics, and Brad would eventually win a seat on the Palmer City Council. Years later. after Sarah was nominated as a vice-presidential candidate, the National Enquirer alleged that they had an affair after Sarah became mayor, an accusation that was vociferously denied by both sides.(Chapter five pg.70)

Okay now to divulge a little bit of "behind the scenes" blogging information. I was contacted by John South, the National Enquirer reporter who wrote that Palin affair story. He was chasing another rumor that I was not very helpful with, but while I had him on he phone I asked him about this article. He said that they had been unable to confirm this story in Wasilla itself, but had tracked down a few people outside of Alaska who were willing to confirm it. And then he told me to keep in mind, that nobody had threatened legal action over the revelation nor had Governor Palin herself ever gone on record to address it.

Now flash forward to my family room just last week. Somehow this story came up during my conversations with some political friends and I offered that I had heard that while Palin may have had feelings for Brad Hanson that it may never have been consummated. My two very knowledgeable friends from Wasilla both laughed out loud. (Now in my defense I was simply offering up another rumor that I had heard to see if there was any validity to it.)

"How could it be considered a affair, if nobody had sex?" asked one of my friends. And the other one said, "Trust us, they consummated the relationship."

I have no direct information about this possible interlude, and can not say if it really happened one way or the other. But my friends have been pretty spot on throughout this whole situation, so take that for what it is worth.

So there is your dose of Sarah Palin scandal. Now I have to go read some Shakespeare to cleanse my mental palate.

Sherry Whitstine comes across as catty, vindictive, and without any substance. The type of woman that quite frankly, does not represent the conservative woman.

I got a chuckle out of Sherry stating she was going back to "reading Shakespeare to cleanse my mental palate."? Don't think so. Not when one writes this:

Now flash forward to my family room just last week. Somehow this story came up during my conversations with some political friends and I offered that I had heard that while Palin may have had feelings for Brad Hanson that it may never have been consummated. My two very knowledgeable friends from Wasilla both laughed out loud. (Now in my defense I was simply offering up another rumor that I had heard to see if there was any validity to it.)

Maktauq Anyone: Katharine Mieszkowski of Salon, Throws Harpoons at Palin and Misses

Nanook of the North, Katharine Mieszkowski, goes Whalin' for Palin by throwing harpoons at Palin's stance on beluga whales that swim up the Cook Inlet.

Nanook Mieszkowski, waxes poetic:

But for all the amazing ways that the Cook Inlet belugas cope with their stark environment, there's one imminent threat for which they have no adaptation: Gov. Sarah Palin.
Let's see, the beluga whales have one imminent threat that they can't adapt to and that be Gov. Sarah Palin.

A quick fact check at google: Scientists catalog Cook Inlet belugas

Estimates put the Cook Inlet beluga population at about 375, compared with 1,300 animals in 1979.

No one knows exactly what is hurting the whales. Subsistence hunters once took large numbers. The hunts, however, have been regulated since 1999 and only five whales have been legally harvested since then. There is now a moratorium on hunts, at least through 2012.

State officials are considering a lawsuit over the listing. They say the federal government should have waited longer before declaring belugas endangered.

In the past four years, the number of Cook Inlet belugas has grown by about 100, according to Doug Vincent-Lang, the state's endangered species coordinator. Vincent-Lang attended the symposium but didn't give a presentation.

The population counts are just estimates and the trend is downward for the animals, said Brad Smith of the National Marine Fisheries Service.

Possible threats to the whales include pollution, coastal development, strandings, predation and poaching, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
(emphasis added)

Nowhere does the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration list Gov. Sarah Palin as a threat.....

Nanook of the North, Mieszkowski makes another claim:

More than 300 whales perished in one four-year stretch (1994 to 1998) alone, according to the National Marine Fisheries Service. Marine mammal biologists and conservationists were hopeful that sharply limiting subsistence hunting of the whales by native Alaskans would see the whales bounce back. But despite only five whales being killed by hunting since 1999, when new regulations went into effect, the whales have not rebounded.
Let's see, "when new regulations went into effect, the whales have not rebounded."

Now according to Doug Vincent-Lang, belugas have grown by 100 in the past four years.

But federal officials have their figures.

That delay gave federal biologists another season to conduct aerial surveys, which confirmed that the population remained at 375 and showed no sign of increase. Estimates have ranged from a high of 653 belugas in 1994 to a low of 278 in 2005.

Whale biologists have not determined why the population has not rebounded since a federal plan curtailed the beluga hunt by Alaskan native tribes in 1999, said Barbara Mahoney, a fisheries service biologist in Anchorage. Subsistence hunters have only taken five Cook Inlet whales since 1999 and none in the last two years.

No hunting will be permitted through 2012, a ban which will be extended if the population falls below 350 whales, she said.

Federal biologist have confirmed 375. In 2005 there were an estimated 278 belugas. That is an increase of about one hundred. How estimates are conducted have been fairly consistent.

Doug Vincent-Lang's statement on an increase of 100 since 2005 is correct.

However, Nanook of the North, Mieszkowski has told a Great White Lie in the Great Land. She said they have not rebounded.

As for the rest of the article? Fish bait for more british cod fillet....

Who's Bristol Palin's Daddy? Geoffrey Dunn at the Gaborington Post Tries to be Surrogate Daddy

Down at the Gaborington Post, one of the farm-hands Geoffrey Dunn tries to dole out parental advice on abstinence.

In trying to do that, surrogate-father-want-to-be Dunn, tries to drive the emotional wedge between mother and daughter with a headline that reads:

Palin's Evangelical Base Slaps Down Bristol

Dunn tries to pull at reader's heart strings with the hope that his chance for a mommy dearest moment will come to play out in real life.

Here is the mommy dearest quote from Dunn:

one of mom Sarah Palin's chief support groups -- right-wing evangelicals who promote abstinence -- tore into Bristol over her comments on Fox News that "abstinence is unrealistic.

Usually moments like this are saved for custody battles and if you look at the group's statement, Dunn's histrionic personality comes through when he writes "tore into Bristol." But he gets better on developing the mommy dearest moment:

I'm not going to touch NAEA's implied reference to Fox News with a ten-foot pole. But only weeks after Sarah Palin said "leave my kids alone," her biggest "news" promoter, Van Susteren, sneaks into Alaska behind Palin's back for a ratings-grabbing interview with Bristol. And then a conservative Christian group goes after her daughter.

Where's Palin's vituperative comeback at Van Susteren or the NAEA?

Her silence says truck loads.

I've written more than two dozen pieces on Palin since she was picked to ride shotgun with John McCain, and I've never once mentioned Bristol and her pregnancy. But now that Bristol is 18 and coming forward with public interviews of her own about issues such as teen-pregnancy and abstinence, I felt compelled to point out the irony of this new attack on Bristol and the hypocrisy of Palin's silence.

Silence? Some say silence is consent. Some say silence is golden. In the case of Dunn's writing, the latter would apply and the first would apply in Palin's case in that she agrees with the policy of abstinence.

Also what is interesting is all the while he is discussing Palin he said he never mentioned Bristol and the pregnancy until now. If it was such a compelling case before,as Dunn points to, why now? Is it because she is 18? As Dunn admits, the NAEA has talked about it in the past. So why wait until she was 18?

Dunn continues with the hypocrisy:

Moreover, this is not the first time that the NAEA has used Bristol's pregnancy to advance its own cause. Last September, Valerie Huber, the executive director of NAEA, invoked Bristol's pregnancy in an op-ed piece for USA Today pushing the abstinence myth.

The governor was silent then, too.

I don't pretend to be an expert on teen pregnancy. But for the record, I think Bristol was spot-on in her comments about abstinence. If Sarah Palin's evangelical base really wants to confront teen pregnancy, they'd be smart to listen to Bristol Palin and others in her shoes and absorb some of their real-life wisdom.

There are ironies, and then there are real ironies. In the aftermath of Bristol Palin's candid interview with Greta Van Susteren this week about teen abstinence, one of mom Sarah Palin's chief support...

Dunn is right, he is no expert on teen pregnancy.

If Dunn had paid any attention to what Bristol had said, the bottom line, she would have waited ten years to have a child. And you could tell that the mistake of not abstaining or not using a contraceptive was something that will stay with her for the rest of her life.

The real myth here is; Dunn gives a rats-ass about Bristol. The sole purpose here, was to play surrogate daddy and come up with a mommy dearest moment between Palin and Bristol.

This guy admits writing many articles on Palin and I will take a guess, most haven't been kind.

The other myth is; education on contraceptives and their use, prevent teen pregnancies. Dunn doesn't have to go very far to search statistics on that subject does he.

Moreover, Palin is there giving support to daughter Bristol as is the whole family.

Dunn however, like a daddy wannabe, is absent on dealing with these realities.

When it comes to real-life wisdom on teen pregnancies or family matters on the Palin household, Dunn is lacking it.

Shannyn Moore is doing more Palling around with Palin

To put it bluntly, Shannyn Moore and others would not be where they are today if it were not for a national media that was out to crucify Palin.

It is pretty obvious that Shannyn didn't have talent on "loan from God" to make it in radio on a national level or rate up there with local radio personalities like Dan Fagan.

So, Shannyn continues to look for an opportunity (a photo-op, op-ed, you name it) and that is why she keeps palling around with Palin.

It is comical to read opinions by people who like to think they are smart when they really aren't.

Reverend Franklin Graham is in Alaska with Samaritan's Purse, his not-for-profit charity. Governor Light Sean Parnell and Governor Sarah Palin are escorting him to the villages of Russian Mission and Marshall. Mr. Graham, son of the legendary evangelist Billy Graham, has done some fantastic missions. Wow, actually doing God's work. What a concept. Working to treat AIDS, but not providing condoms because it condones "sin" is one of the controversies surrounding his work. The Samaritan's Purse, unlike the parable of the Good Samaritan has some pretty mighty strings.

So was Reverend Graham watching the CNN coverage of Emonnak and inspired to help? Well, that's unclear...but what is clear is his connection to Greta Van Susteren of Faux News.

News flash for Shannyn, Folks in Hooper Bay put a name on charity, and it's Franklin Graham

It's not like she is a quick study in history or on humility. But don't-cha know, Jesus was a liberal and Saint Shannyn of Homer is about to cast the first stone. "What a concept."

Where was Shannyn's head at the time when she was writing her screed? Under tinfoil evidently. She and Andrew Halcro must have been drumming up air support from UFO hunters flying around in black helicopters in search of E.T.

Wait a second, come to think of it, Halcro was trying to link scientology between Greta and Sarah Palin and Moore is trying to link something between Graham and Greta.

Franklin must secretly want to be a scientologist while he watches "Faux News."

Unlike Palin, Shannyn is like a unleashed Teacup Yorkie with lipstick, nipping at Palin's ankles.

Sarah Palin 'to run for president' (Update)

Childhood friend shows photos of Alaska governor in Rome

(ANSA) - Rome, February 20 - One of Alaska governor Sarah Palin's closest childhood friends and her semi-official photographer is pretty certain that the former vice-presidential hopeful will run for president in 2011.

I am reminded of the scene in Shipping News when making headlines on stories...

UPDATE: Here is a link to a video interview done on 02/20/09 with Judy Patrick. My Italian is bad but it seems to be linked with the story.

ANSA

Palin Prouesse: Stimulating the Left and people with PDS (Update)

Governor Palin is the gift that keeps on giving. She continues to stimulate the left and people who have Palin Derangment Syndrome.

Just recently, we have seen Andrew Halcro come up with the theory that Bristol was part of a Palin staged interview with Greta Van Susteren.

Then as a follow-up, Halcro has black helicopters come in with a picture of Tom Cruise on the tail, sweeping Palin away to some undisclosed location in Halcroland.

Yes, that is correct, Palin has gone over to the scientology side, er wait, make that the Rev. Graham side, wait, make that the Planned Parenthood side. It's getting hard to keep tabs on the daily conspiracies.

And while on the topic of theories, since Halcro is a free choice Catholic, why does he consider himself a Catholic. Could there be a check written by Halcro that found its way into the Planned Parenthood tithing basket? After all, his wife worked for them. Did Halcro leave a thank you note to Palin and to the Pope at the same time?

Enough on Halcro, he has become a catty male who would make a good gossip columnist for the Globe.

In today's Anchorage dying newspaper, the editors came up with a bottom line on Palin.

Gov. Palin shouldn't take a partisan approach to using federal stimulus funding.

One has to wonder if Zencey et al, before going to bed, get on their knees and pray that Alaska will have another oil boom. Or do they go out in their yards and plant pennies in the ground and hope for trees to grow?

What the editors forget is, that stimulus package is a debt placed on our kid's futures. At least my 15 year old daughter understands that.

Since coming to the ADN, the editors at the ADN are a joke and have been for a long time. In case the editors haven't noticed, McClatchy stock is tanking and it seems each time these guys open their mouths, the stock gets worse.

We can only pray that soon, their mouths will open no more.

UPDATE: The Fiscal Conservative Governor Clause

What this means if you have a Governor who is conservative like Palin on the stimulus package, the Legislature can accept the funds.

What this also means is; any criticism of Palin as was done by the ADN, is done for political purpose.

A Butt Naked Obama: Photo by Yiorgos Karahalis

Performers who have had their bodies painted stand in formation to depict the face of US President Barack Obama during ‘The Fall of Athens,’ a performance by Swiss artist Dave on Philopappou Hill in Athens yesterday. The ceremony was part of the Art Marathon, which will be traveling around the world until December 2050. Dave is planning to create the world’s biggest book, measuring 14 meters by 3 meters, as part of the Art Marathon.

And I Take this Time Out for a Sexist Comment: Sex Kitten Palin?

Sex Kitten Feminist Sarah Palin Is a Big Media, Internet Draw, Love or Hate Her

It seems Mizzzzzzzzzz Erbe has a thing for Palin...... Wow the left have got Palin under their skin.

It is fun to watch the left and those with PDS killing themselves with stupid statements.

Here is an example of one such idiot at the Seattle Post Intelligencer.

First to this comment:

Palin gave a Lincoln Day speech in Fairbanks last week, likening herself and Alaskans to the Civil War president. Just as Lincoln approved sweeping measures to build roads and railroads, she argued, Alaskans want to develop the same kind of infrastructure and open up federal lands.

Palin didn't liken herself to Lincoln like Obama did. She pointed to the fact that Lincoln believed in building roads, opening lands to build on. And I might add, he was a Republican.

Then the dumbass comes up with this.

This week, however, U.S. District Judge John Sedwick overturned permits for a $374 million Juneau Access Highway, linking Alaska's capital with the interior of the state.

The 50.8-mile access road, long a dream of Alaska boomers, predates the "bridges to nowhere" that became national laughingstocks.

What the idiot forgot was; Palin cancelled the project that Murkowski started.

The laughingstock on this one, is the columnist that wrote the statement. And the real test of a columnist is the ability to responsibly write a column based on sound facts.

The proof is always found in the pudding.

Palin reduces budget by nearly a half billion

Flight 3407: A Case for Tailplane Icing

As previously stated, I had talked to a pilot about the crash and he agreed on icing and said it was icing on the tail that caused the problem.

Here is a link to a study done by NASA on tailplane icing.

Testing at NASA Lewis found that the sharper edges of the horizontal stabilizer collects more ice than the rounded edges of the wings.

"This means if there's any ice on the wing, there may significantly more ice on the horizontal stabilizer," the narrator warns. If a pilot notices ice anywhere on the airplane, he should be aware that ice may already be accumulating on horizontal stabilizer. However, pilots can't see the horizontal stabilizer from the cockpit.

The ice can disturb the flow of air over the tail plane, the horizontal stabilizer. The horizontal stabilizer acts as an upside-down wing, pushing the tail down to counterbalance the lift provided by the wings, which are usually behind the aircraft's center of gravity. If the smooth flow of air is disturbed over the tail plane, the horizontal stabilizer isn't providing the necessary downforce and the nose of the aircraft may pitch downward, the video warns.

Says our narrator:

"Tail plane stall due to ice accretion is rarely a problem in cruise flight. During this part of the flight, the horizontal stabilizer is not working anywhere near its performance limits. Consequently, flight crews may not have any aerodynamic clues that ice may be building up on the tail plane until the aircraft configuration is changed.
"The effects of ice contamination on the horizontal stabilizer are typically noticed during an approach after flaps are extended and when the aircraft is near the ground. During this part of the flight, the horizontal stabilizer is working near its performance limits.

"If the tail stalls at this point, recovery is very difficult."

The NTSB has said the pilots had commented on a significant build-up of ice on the windshield and elsewhere on the airplane shortly before the airplane went out of control as it was approaching the Buffalo airport.

The Suit has no Statesman

From Byron York: For Obama, it’s more about showmanship than sunlight

Back during the presidential campaign, Barack Obama promised something he called “Sunlight Before Signing.” Obama complained that “too often bills are rushed through Congress and to the president before the public has the opportunity to review them.” So he pledged that, as president, he would “not sign any nonemergency bill without giving the American public an opportunity to review and comment on the White House Web site for five days.”

“Sunlight Before Signing” faded into darkness with the first bill that came across Obama’s desk. The new president signed the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act two days after it was passed by Congress — and without posting it on the White House Web site.

Then he signed the second bill of his administration, an update of the State Children’s Health Insurance Program, within hours after Congress passed it.

Both signatures clearly violated Obama’s campaign promise. Questioned by reporters, White House officials said they were “working out a series of procedures” to handle newly passed legislation. “We’re working through the technicalities of how that happens, and we’ll get a process together,” spokesman Robert Gibbs told the press last week.

(...)

Go back to “Sunlight Before Signing.” In the case of the stimulus, there was never any doubt Obama would sign the legislation. The period in which the public needed sunlight was before the bill was passed, not before it was signed. And that was precisely the kind of sunlight the White House and Democrats wanted to stop. Once they accomplished that with Friday’s voting gambit, Obama could take a few days off in Chicago while the “emergency” legislation sat on his desk. Then, it was on to Denver for the photo-op.

This delay had nothing to do with sunlight — and everything to do with showmanship.

King of Pork: Barack Hussein Obama

The story behind the photo (I am thinking about setting up a webcam (smile)) is my friend was telling me about a Pietrain pig that was being sold for $350.00. Now keep in mind I have never farmed animals and I grew up in the city. But I decided to buy the guy and use him as my own stimulus package; to produce more pork.

So now it is my understanding, according to my friend who has one York gilt and one Russian Duroc gilt, Barack Hussein Obama has been busy making pork.

Now the reason I named him Barack Hussein Obama is:

1. He is king of pork.

2. He is black and white spotted.

3. He is slim as pigs go.

4. And he is a Christian pig as opposed to being a Muslim pig which by the way would be against the Islamic faith.

I am feeling rich already.......

The Only Thing Contrived is Halcro's Truth

"...But I'm sorry, someone has to say something about the lastest publicity stunt by Palin." Andrew Halcro

This being said about Bristol's inteview with Fox. Evidently he missed the part where Bristol stated she told her mom one day before and it was her idea. I suppose Halcro will call her a liar too.

Prosecutors removed in Stevens Trial

Story

I say this in jest; Since we had a special session for AGIA because of Bill Allen and new legislation was enacted, I say we should have a special session on the election between Stevens and Begich.

Then we can hold a special election because of the tainted process of the election that revolved around Bill Allen and his close relationship with certain FBI agents and prosecutors.

And last but not least, who were the reporters who were cozy with the FBI agent who wore the dress for Bill Allen.

That way Begich can come home and do what he is best at doing. Selling real estate.

Rham Emanuel: Padding the Pad

Trouble in Paradise?

Emanuel never declared the substantial gift of free rent on any of his financial-disclosure forms. He and De Lauro claim that it was just allowable "hospitality" between colleagues. Hospitality - for five years?

Some experts suggest that it was also taxable income: Over five years, the free rent could easily add up to more than $100,000.

Nor is this all that seems to have been missed in the Obama team's vetting process. Consider: Emanuel served on the Freddie Mac board of directors during the time that the government-backed lender lied about its earnings, a leading contributor to the current economic meltdown.

Russian Vodka turns to Steel

It used to be Russia was famous for its Vodka here in the United States, however since the fall of communism, the ex-communists saw opportunity and thus became billionaires like Roman Abramovich.

In the headlines on Drudge, I found this: Will Kremlin bail out an Oregon steel plant?

I found the headline of interest because I have been talking about Russia, Gazprom and IPSCO for sometime.

On the ADN blog I got into a spat with Eddie Burke on some issue that started off on Menard.

Now I like Eddie and he and I have disagreed on the air, but I think his heart is in the right place. But here is what was said.

For crying out loud Eddie,
will you give it a rest for once.

My mother ran against Menard in a school board race and Menard is an NEA supporter. A Dem turned Republican.

What Lyda did with the Dems is no different than what Governor Palin has done with surrounding herself with who knows what in the hell they are.

Eddie in Tuesdays news it was stated that: "...The International Energy Agency says Russia has turned into the biggest crude oil producer, a title traditionally belonged to Saudi Arabia."

(...)

"...In principle, Russia’s oil bonanza could continue for years: it has the world’s seventh-biggest oil reserves, at 80 billion barrels, according to BP, a British oil firm.

And oilmen reckon there are 100 billion more barrels to find—“the biggest exploration prize in the world”, in the words of Robert Dudley, the boss of TNK-BP, BP’s Russian joint venture."

Maybe Sen. Schumer from N.Y would like to recant. And Samuels was right. They only one.

What isn't being talked about is the fact that Russians are buying steel companies like IPSCO which TransCanada had dealings with when it comes to pipe.

http://www.forbes.com/afxnewslimited/feeds/afx/2008/06/13/afx5112812.htm

Evraz completes acquisition of IPSCO Canada

"...Russia-based steel maker Evraz Group S.A. said it has completed its
acquisition of IPSCO's Canadian plate and pipe business (IPSCO Canada)."

TransCanada hasn't talked with Gazprom? Highly doubtful that they
didn't.

Eddie when it comes time to find pipe to build the line, who will the
companies be dealing with? And how will they win when it comes to dealing
with the Russians?

Governor Palin is way in over her head on dealing with this issue and how to play the game. The enemy isn't the oil companies. Will you get that in your thick head of yours. In case you missed it mortages in default are on the rise in Alaska.

Eddie you know damn well that I didn't vote for Murkowski.

Remember our conversation off-air?

I'll tell you what, when it comes time to get the steel for the pipe,
let's see who is right.

http://www.metalcenternews.com/2008/May/May2008_TMK_NA.htm

"Russian' Headlong into the Americas

Russian companies, such as the TMK Group, are investing aggressively in the
North American steel market and shaking up the traditional sources of supply for
service centers"

The point here I was making with Eddie was; Russia via Putin was looking at controlling a lot of steel in the United States. The Russians would have leverage on negotiations with the oil companies which would be bad for the U.S.

The companies are still considered U.S. companies but they are owned by Russians who are tied to Gazprom and Putin.

Now that the stimulus package will be signed, it will be interesting to see how projects are handled since these steel mills are still U.S. companies but are owned by Russians.

On a different note I will be talking about Menard and how she voted with the Senate on the resolution to find Todd Palin in contempt.

You will see my original comments on why would Sarah Palin surround herself with people like Menard. When I talk about it, it starts from there and I bring in comments my mother told me when she ran against Menard for the school board race.

Flight 3407: The FAA and NWS Can Take Blame in Part for the Crash

When I first heard about the crash of Flight 3407, I had a bad feeling about icing conditions. I had posted a thread on the Skew_T data and ATC chatter.

Today my feelings have been confirmed. The NTSB has released information on PIREPS that verify what my forecasting experience has taught me. That the conditions at and near Buffalo New York, warranted icing forecasts of moderate to severe icing.

Not light to moderate as the NTSB is indicating. Moreover an investigation into ATC's handling of the forecasts and NWS forecasters should be done.

My comments on the matter are in the following:

http://thomasalamb.blogspot.com/2009/02/more-on-flight-3407-icing-and-steve.html

This guy from the NTSB, Steve Chealander has made some questionable statements.

1. That the de-icing equipment had be turned on 11 minutes after take-off.

2. The auto-pilot was on during decent.

3. Significant icing does not represent severe icing. (He is playing a game of semantics)

4. Based on weather data , there was no indication of severe icing. (The skew-t data for Buffalo shows icing conditions from moderate to severe)

5. The pilots had winter training that tells you to engage de-icing equipment before entering icing conditions.

(...)

The Skew-T data on the day of the crash is below and shows that the potential for icing is high. And from my own forecasting experience, it could be moderate to severe.

http://thomasalamb.blogspot.com/2009/02/icing-on-tail-on-flight-3407.html

He and I agreed that the pilots where not being notified of icing conditions.

http://thomasalamb.blogspot.com/2009/02/continental-flight-3407-icing-problems.html

Early this morning I had a bad feeling about flight 3407 so I did a quick research on the Skew-T data at Buffalo Airport

The Skew-T data along with PIREPS had led me to believe that icing was a problem for flight 3407.

Since then, the flight recorder has verified an icing problem was occurring with the plane. What I found troubling was the reaction of the ATC and their questions of asking pilots if they had encountered icing. It wasn't until after the loss in radio communication with flight 3407 that the ATC started asking pilots about the icing.

Having served as a meteorologist in the Air Force, I remember from my own experience in having to forecast and issue weather warnings that included warnings of moderate to severe icing.Once issued, I would brief pilots (taking off from the base) on the warnings and they would call in via PMSV, PIREPS that either would verify or not verify the warnings.

http://thomasalamb.blogspot.com/2009/02/skew-t-data-for-buffalo-new-york.html

I used to be a meteorologist in the Air Force and from my time as a forecaster, the Skew T data would indicate at least moderate icing conditions from the 12 hr time frame between 12z and 00z. From ATC chatter, I get the feeling that there was no concern on icing conditions.

Flight NYC07LA081

What you will find in the above investigation by the NTSB is: The boots on the leading edge of the wings should not be on until icing is occuring on the wings. The question to the NTSB should be why was the de-icing equipment on after 11 minutes of take-off from Newark.

More on Flight 3407: Icing and Steve Chealander's Comments

Bloomberg

This guy from the NTSB, Steve Chealander has made some questionable statements.

1. That the de-icing equipment had be turned on 11 minutes after take-off.

2. The auto-pilot was on during decent.

3. Significant icing does not represent severe icing. (He is playing a game of semantics)

4. Based on weather data , there was no indication of severe icing. (The skew-t data for Buffalo shows icing conditions from moderate to severe)

5. The pilots had winter training that tells you to engage de-icing equipment before entering icing conditions.

Here is what is said about anti-icing and de-icing equipment.

Chealander stated de-icing equipment had been turned on 11 minutes after take-off. De-icing equipment (the boot system) is turned on after encountering icing, anti-icing equipment is turned on before entering icing conditions.

The problem with the boot system is that if left on for sometime, it can malfuntion in that icing gets lodged in the system and cannot expand.

As for data on icing, the following graph will show areas of icing. As stated on the graph, the highest percentage of pilots encounter icing will be in area A. Here are graphs on icing conditions in Alaska and the CONUS.

The Skew-T data on the day of the crash is below and shows that the potential for icing is high. And from my own forecasting experience, it could be moderate to severe.

Icing on the Tail of Flight 3407

I was talking with a pilot I have known for some time. We were talking about the crash of flight 3407 and he said that, the de-icing was turned on too late and he said that he thinks ice was fodding out the engines.

He explained that by the conditions I described from the skew-t data, ice would be building up on the front edge of the engines and would have broken off before being completed melted.

He said that icing on the tail was what caused it to go down.

He had seen the photos of the aircraft and said it didn't nose dive. And it looked like at the last moment before impact that the plane's nose had lifted and dropped.

He and I agreed that the pilots where not being notified of icing conditions.

Obama's Five Day Rule: More Hype

And, when there’s a bill that ends up on my desk as president, you the public will have five days to look on-line and find out what’s in it before I sign it so that you know what your government’s doing.

The bill was passed on Friday but the conference report on the bill was posted on-line on Thursday.

The president as reported, will sign the bill on Tuesday. I guess in Obama's world, five days started ticking off Thursday.

I have to ask two things, what day did the bill end up on his desk? And what difference does it make if I get to look at it on-line. If I have a question or a problem with it on the fifth day and lodge my complaint on the fifth day Alaska time, will this matter to the president on Tuesday?

No.

Moreover, if we see money going to build a train that goes from Nevada to Los Angeles, and people lodge a complaint against it, will that stop Nevada from getting the money?

It's a rhetorical question and Obama's truth in transparency is nothing more than hype.

The president has instructed people to go to recovery.gov to track funds.

The Fairness Doctrine on my dime: PBS and Tavis Smiley

If it comes to a point that Congress wants to bring the fairness doctrine back in, I hope people remind Congress of PBS and it's "small town" ways with Palin.

Tavis Smiley

While it's easy to laugh about Sarah Palin and her small-town moose-eating ways, there's something else there, too.

(...)

The clarification about what Russia looks like (albeit from across an ocean) aside, she is quite obviously horrifically under qualified to hold the highest office in the land, and yet…it seems pretty much assured that she'll take another shot at it.

Sigh.

At least she'll be running against an incumbent.

How does that song go about being born in a small-town?

Well I was born in a small town
And I live in a small town
Probly die in a small town
Oh, those small communities

All my friends are so small town
My parents live in the same small town
My job is so small town
Provides little opportunity

Educated in a small town
Taught the fear of jesus in a small town
Used to daydream in that small town
Another boring romantic thats me

But Ive seen it all in a small town
Had myself a ball in a small town
Married an l.a. doll and brought her to this small town
Now shes small town just like me

No I cannot forget where it is that I come from
I cannot forget the people who love me
Yeah, I can be myself here in this small town
And people let me be just what I want to be

Got nothing against a big town
Still hayseed enough to say
Look whos in the big town
But my bed is in a small town
Oh, and thats good enough for me

Well I was born in a small town
And I can breathe in a small town
Gonna die in this small town
And thats probly where theyll bury me

Let's see the idiot take a shot at John Mellencamp about small-towns. It's nice to see my tax dollars going to pay for the "fairness doctrine" at PBS.

Continental Flight 3407: Icing Problems Who's Fault Is It

Early this morning I had a bad feeling about flight 3407 so I did a quick research on the Skew-T data at Buffalo Airport

The Skew-T data along with PIREPS had led me to believe that icing was a problem for flight 3407.

Since then, the flight recorder has verified an icing problem was occurring with the plane.

Once issued, I would brief pilots (taking off from the base) on the warnings and they would call in via PMSV, PIREPS that either would verify or not verify the warnings.

These warnings would go out worldwide in NOTAMS so that pilots coming to the base would be made aware of the warnings and pilots would also contact approach to update any forecast or weather warnings.

Knowing this and listening to ATC it seems that there were no warnings issued on moderate to severe icing. The ATC's response seemed as if the questions were asked out of curiosity which would lead to the question on what was taking place.

I tried to search NOTAMS and weather warnings for icing and at this time, I have not been able to find any. If it turns out that no such warnings were issued, then there is a serious problem.

Who Is Henrietta Hughes: Obama's Human Stage Prop

H/T Sweetness & Light

The Property Records Of Henrietta Hughes
According to Lee County, Florida property records:

6/18/01 Property (Lot 19, Block 35, Unit 9, Sec. 20, Twnshp 44S, Range 27, Lehigh Acres Subdivision) purchased by Henrietta and Corey Hughes

10/10/03 - $124,400.00 lien release due to payment in full to Henrietta and Corey Hughes.

8/9/06 - Quit claim deed signed by Henrietta Hughes granting full ownership to Corey Hughes.

No transactions since for either Henrietta Hughes or Corey Hughes which means that Corey Hughes still owns the property. Taxes current (paid) on 1/1/09.

There are a number of mortgage lien holder transfers between 2001 and when it was paid off in 2003. This is normal as liens are often sold (think one mortgage holder buying out another). What is interesting is how this lien for $124,400.00 was paid off in less than 28 months.

Palin could battle state Supreme Court picks

Link

A total of six judges applied, but only two were elected by the Judicial Council, Eric Smith, considered very liberal, and Morgan Christen, who is viewed as more of a moderate. Christen and Smith were rated with scores of 4.3 and 4.5 out of a 5 point scale used to elect judges by the council.

The four other nominees scored between 3.7 and 2.4 and were not sent to Palin for consideration.

"The… lawyers control the process," the Web site GOP 12 laments.

Dan Fagan of the Alaska Standard wrote that the time has come for Palin to spend the political capital she acquired as the Republican vice presidential nominee in 2008.

"She must demand more names from the Judicial Council." Fagan wrote. "Now that Palin is clearly trying to endear herself to the conservative base nationally, fighting for the justice she wants seems like a savvy play for her."

As a process for picking Alaska Supreme Court Judges, Fagan is right. His sentiment is correct on the process. But I don't think Palin has the political capital it would take to change the picking process by way of making changes to the Alaska constitution.
