As stated, the idea is not new and it is interesting that he is raising the topic now.

However, as for the polar ice cap, it is debatable on how much of it will shrink.

Russian scientists have backed off on their claims of it shrinking and I believe this is one reason Gazprom is linking up with companies conducting research and development on submarine tankers.
