Salon Gets Snookered on the Australian Registration of Birth Document

There isn't much of a War Room at Salon if they are quick to dispute a Kenyan document with what is clearly a fake Australian document.

Over the weekend, Birther-in-Chief Orly Taitz released what could have been a shocking discovery: A document that was purportedly a certified copy of President Obama's Kenyan birth certificate, showing that he'd been born in Mombasa, Kenya, not in Hawaii.

It took just 48 hours to definitively expose Taitz's find as a forgery, and for the document that it was apparently based off of to surface. It's a certified copy of a birth certificate for one David Jeffrey Bomford, born in South Australia in April 1959.

As pointed out below, FreeRepublic has one hell of a War Room when it comes to fact checking and it is clear by the analysis, that the Australian document is a fake.

As for the Kenyan one? Call me skeptical but make me a believer.

Frome a freeper.

So much going on.. not sure if this was already caught:
From TexasDarlins blog:

on August 3, 2009 at 7:31 pm | Reply lev8mysoul I asked a british history buff I know if he could find out who the colonial registrar was for Mombasa in 1961. He called me up a few minutes ago and said “Sir Edward F. Lavender Source(s): Kenya Dominion Record 4667 Australian library”

Interestingly also a Yahoo question by the same person(?)

I'm trying to find out the name of the registrar in Mombasa in 1961, who would have registered the births, marriages, etc. at that time.

So you honestly believe that the leader of the free world is not an American citizen? You don't think that they would have found out before he went to Columbia? Or Harvard? Or when he became a state senator? You don't think Hilary Clinton or John McCain would have jumped ALL OVER this?

Well, first, there's birthers and then there's birthers. Most of us are just agnostic - we don't know if O is a citizen, or if he is, is he "natural born" in the technical sense required by the Constitution. Seeing that HA original 1961 birth certificate would make most of this flap go away (except for the usual diehards, of course). So we don't get why O won't do it, won't release the HA 1961 original, but instead tries to pawn off the cheesy little abstract on factcheck as "good enough for you peons." I hate condescension. It's nothing but disrespect.

As for why this wasn't caught until now, you don't get Chicago politics, do you. I work in Springfield, IL, and I can tell you the politicos do not care much about anything beyond perpetuating their fiefdoms, let alone something as abstract as a constitutional requirement or whatever. We have heard them say as much, right out loud for irritated constituents to hear, "Constitution? Most of what we do isn't constitutional." Seriously. That's a reasonably accurate quote from Congressman "S.," a Republican no less! There just is no tight scrutiny on such things here, and a clever fellow who delivered political results could go a long way without ever being asked "difficult questions." Shoot, when the dead can vote, whose gonna sweat something trivial like a stinkin birth certificate?

BTW, Hilary's dem friend Phil Berg is the guy who got this whole birther movement started, so don't think Hil didn't have a hand in all this. Ever hear of "plausible deniability?" As for McCain's staff, they haven't established their creds for doing candidate research, so you really can't play that card. I love Sarah, and I would vote for her over O on policy any day, any time. But I'm just sayin ...

If the Registrar's name for that time period was really Edward F. Lavender, that would be good evidence in support of the Kenyan certificate. Is there any other verification? We need something better than a comment post on a web site as evidence. Great blog. I gave you a blogger follow.

Anon, what I am saying is on this thread, it is funny to see people who think the Kenyan document is a fake, produce a fake document to show the Kenyan one is a fake.

As for citizenship, Obam had to become an Indoneasian citizen to go to pubcli school there.

That is all documented. And he could not hold a dual citizenship.

What follows that is a big question.
