The Purge of the Republican Party is On!

By Dr. Richard Swier

I wrote a column about a meeting of the Republican Party of Sarasota (RPOS) last night. The meeting dealt with two resolutions brought to the floor for a vote by the RPOS Policy Committee. Both resolutions held the Sarasota County School Board and School Administration to task for out of control spending of non-recurring (school referendum) tax dollars on recurring expenses (district salaries and benefits), an unsustainable school district operational budget of $407 million and by passing voters on bonding for school construction projects.

What I witnessed last night was the beginnings of a purge of the Republican party at the local level. Who is behind this purge? Conservatives, TEA Party activists, 9/12ers or whatever you may want to call them!
