The Arctic Ice Man: Alaska U.S. Senate GOP Candidate Mead Treadwell

The 2014 Alaska U.S. Senate election is gearing up and it's time to focus on the GOP candidates and quite frankly, I don't care much for Mead Treadwell and it has to with his asinine position on the Arctic sea ice.

Mead is a climate change addict - and he pushes climate change in a video by talking about opening routes in the Arctic Ocean as Arctic sea ice shrinks.

For a guy that hangs out with Russian scientists, he couldn't be more wrong on the Arctic sea ice shrinking.

First, the Russians are developing seabed platforms -  and then there is that pesky issue of the Law of Sea Treaty (LOS) that both Mead and Dan Sullivan support and the treaty protects marine mammal habitat.

So there won't be icebreakers crashing through polar (marine mammal) habitat with a LOS signed on by Mead or Dan.

On the Arctic sea ice shrinking, I wrote in 2009 that the Russians were backing away from the idea that the Arctic sea ice was shrinking and from the seers who said the Arctic Ocean would be free from sea ice in 2012.

It turns out that the Russian scientists that Mead supposedly hangs out with, turned out to be right.

The Arctic sea ice is rebounding - not shrinking.

In fact, the North West Passage was blocked with sea ice which stranded yachts trying to sail the passage.

So given Mead's statements on the shrinking sea ice is faulty, he seems to be frozen in time.
